Lauren Wheeler is a 26 year-old singer-songwriter from Bloomington-Normal, IL. She was born in Kankakee, IL and has been infatuated with music her entire life. Lauren began singing around the time she learned to talk; Disney movies played a big role in that J Little did she know, singing would soon become the greatest passion in her life. In addition to singing, Lauren Wheeler began dancing at the age of four and continued dancing and performing in recitals throughout college. Lauren has sung in a variety of talent competitions, operas, musicals, weddings, and charitable events.
While a student at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Lauren Wheeler took a piano class for the first time and grew to love playing the piano. She began writing her own songs in college, which she eventually showcased during her graduate school years in small music venues. Lauren enjoys collaborating with other musicians and challenging herself with new projects.
Lauren Wheeler continues to write and perform her own music in the Bloomington-Normal area. She describes difficult yet relatable life experiences through her lyrics while conveying the powerful emotions that emerge from those experiences. Lauren’s musical influences include a wide variety of artists from different music genres including Jason Reeves, Nirvana, Brendan James, The Beatles, Brian McKnight, Bob Dylan, Christina Aguilera, Tool, Carole King, and James Taylor.
Lauren Wheeler recently completed her Master’s degree in Clinical-Counseling Psychology at Illinois State University and is working full-time as a therapist. She promised herself she would focus more on music when she completed school, and coincidentally, she won the FameTube contest the same day she defended her thesis.
Lauren is the lead vocalist in her band, Atrya. Atrya is a 5-piece rock band from Bloomington-Normal, IL. Atrya’s first single “Disarray” was released in September, 2012. Atrya will be performing around the Midwest in the upcoming year. Check out their Facebook page for more details! !
